Grange continued thier unbeaten league record against a very good Hawkley Hall Atheltic team who recruited all their first teamers for this tradional top of the table clash. Grange started the game in an excellent manner and were rewarded what could be described as a dubious penalty after only 45 seconds of the game for hand ball which Martin Meehan dispactched in usual fashion. Grange then contimued to dominate the game and played some really good football for the first twenty minutes and were unlucky not to go two nil up when Andy Shawcross had a header disallowed for offside which looked very close indeed.
After approximately 22 mins of the game Andy Alty launched in a very dangerous throw in and Dean Gaster planted a super header direct in the top corner and Grange lead 2-0 and deserved every bit of their lead. More chances then followed and after good work from David Quigley and Dean Gaster, Jamie went through on goal and just managed to scrape the shot under the -keeper to ensure that Grange lead at the break 3-0 after a super first half.
After the break,Hawkley Hall Ath,playing downhill came out very strongly and gave Grange a few problems and managed to grab a goal after the hour mark with a header from a corner. More Hawkley pressure then continued aand Grange struggled for long periods to clear their half but always looked dangerous on the break and another goal would have clinched it.
The next goal, however, went to the home side after about 80 mins with anothe rgood header at the back post to ensure a nervous last ten minutes for the champions. Grange defended thier line really well and with a couple of good stops from John Leggott in goal and some super defending ensured that Grange got all 3 points and won the game 3-2
